A Good Place to Start

It's interesting. For a long time I've wanted to write. I think what that really means is a bit nuanced. Writing in and of itself doesn't quite cut it. There's a certain need to have the writing visible to others. To write is to have others read. So, for a long time, I haven't written anything, because I haven't had a visible medium for that writing. I've had lots of ideas, but haven't fleshed most of them out.

This site is a medium where others can potentially read my writing. I get that appropriate catharsis. Readers may or may not learn something or read something they enjoy. Win win.

Where did the name of this site come from? I am very curious about how things work. How things really work. I tend to ask a question, then ask a question about the answer, and so on. The high level answer normally doesn't really make sense to me, insofar as it doesn't usually really answer the question. And that doesn't sit well with me. So I dig until I get an answer that fully checks out (keep in mind, this does annoy some people - those people may just not really understand the topic 🤷). The 5 whys is a technique attributed to Toyota, and it's a technique companies like to advocate. I don't care so much about actually asking why 5 times (Y5x), I really just like to keep digging until I fully understand something.

I hope to write about technical topics and general interests. For some topics, the writing may serve as the means to dive deeper. For others, it may just be the way to tell the result of the learning. Either way, I'm excited to finally start writing. Hopefully this is a good outlet for me, and hopefully others learn (or re-learn) a thing or two as well.
